Renault commits to zero emissions with the new Master Z.E, the 100% electric van

Renault has just announced the new Master Z.E, the company’s first large electric van. It will offer 120 km of range and 80 CV of power.

The electrification of vehicles is one more step forward for the motor industry, since it is spreading across every type of segment. We can see this reflected in the model range of Renault, a brand that is among the pioneers in applying electric motors to its vehicles. The latest news from the diamond-badged firm is the addition of the Master Z.E, presented as the first large electric van from Renault.

This new version of the Master gives Renault customers the opportunity to buy a vehicle with industrial characteristics but with the option of forgoing high consumption and, at the same time, cutting emissions to zero. This new French van inherits the drivetrain used in other electric models from the brand, such as the Renault Zoe or the Twizy, but adapted to the needs of a vehicle with considerably larger dimensions. It is true that a year ago the company expanded its range of electric vehicles, but the Master Z.E brings certain new features.

At the same time, Renault is entering a field where competition is scarce, since electric vans have not yet become fully established in the current market. However, this type of vehicle stands out as an option well worth considering, not only for its design but also for the numerous incentives offered by the French firm to purchase a Master Z.E or even a fleet of them, something very common among large companies.

The electric van’s styling is not altered, since we still find a conservative design but with certain touches that keep the Master Z.E up to date. We also see no flashy details that would suggest it is a model that does not rely on petrol to move. However, what does catch our attention is the drivetrain this new Renault model offers.

Inside the Master Z.E we find a 33 kWh battery, which equates to 80 CV of power, enough to move the van through the streets of our city. At the same time, Renault has stated that it will have a range of 120 kilometres, a distance more than sufficient to cover the needs of the workers who use the Master, since it will allow journeys within urban areas and, at the same time, medium-distance trips. Recharging the battery will take a total of six hours.

Without a doubt, adding the Master Z.E to the electric range is a success for Renault, since it will be very beneficial for its drivers, who can already place orders for it. For now we do not know the official price of this model, but with the Geneva Motor Show just around the corner the French firm will reveal all the necessary information.

¿120 km de autonomía y 6 horas para una recarga completa, en un vehículo concebido para el transporte y el reparto de mercancías? Lo siento, pero a los de Renault se les ha ido la olla totalmente… Poco futuro le veo con esas ridículas prestaciones…
