Optima, the company specialised in manufacturing batteries, presents a variant of the Rivian R1T designed to make the most of adventure.

The SEMA 2022 celebration is already here, and tuners are showcasing their proposals for the event. There are spectacular vehicles, as every year, but electric vehicles have increasingly become one of the main talking points of these builds. The Rivian R1T is one of those new electric vehicles looking to carve out a place in the market, and it has undergone a conversion to be displayed at SEMA.

Many details about this model remain under wraps, but we already know some of them that make it worth a closer look. Among the things that can be seen in the preview Optima has published are a reinforced front bumper, a set of auxiliary lights and bronze-coloured wheels fitted with BFGoodrich tyres.

It also shows rock protection being installed, a practical roof rack and a rack along the edges of the rear bed to carry traction boards, for use if the vehicle gets stuck in mud. The rear bumper is fold-down and carries jerry cans, presumably of water, plus a spare wheel.

To extend range, the vehicle will be accompanied by an Optima charging station, mounted on a Turtleback trailer. It will feature a Level 2 charger with enough capacity to charge the Rivian R1T or any other electric vehicle during the off-road adventure.

The trailer has 12, 110 and 220 volt outlets, so it can also power several electric devices without issue. In addition, the trailer is equipped with an air compressor, a stove, a stereo system and auxiliary lights for use while camping. Solar panels can recharge the station in the middle of nature.

The charging station can be recharged on the way home, so it can be reused at any time and make the outdoor adventure last longer so it can be enjoyed to the fullest. Optima is expected to present two prototypes based on the Rivian R1T at SEMA, along with new battery developments from the brand.
