Rivian: these are the plans to reach Europe
The Rivian models will arrive in Europe shortly, but in addition to the R1S and R1T, the next generation, the R2, is already being developed.

Rivian is preparing its next moves to keep advancing and establish itself as one of the electric vehicle brands. To do so, it does not want to stop at the American market and is paving the way to keep moving forward and reach markets where it is not yet present. Europe is one of those markets, and for this it is preparing a battery of new vehicles that could arrive shortly.
To start establishing itself in our market, they want to arrive with the two current models, the R1T and the R1S, but the brand’s official debut in Europe will be made with several models under the R2 and R3 names, smaller and adapted to the characteristics of this market.

Smaller and more affordable
This series of new models is designed to have a more restrained price than the current ones. And also smaller. To this end, Rivian is working to create these models, designed to be more affordable. Rivian’s efforts are aimed at adjusting the off-road capabilities of these models and also reducing their interior equipment.
The issues related to this reduction in these features were not considered for the R1 models, since there was no need to think about them when they were designed. But, once these are on the market, they intend to keep evolving to achieve a more affordable vehicle that is more suitable for the markets they want to enter.
Apparently, the platform that will underpin the R2 models is already quite advanced, and capital has been allocated to its research. Development will still take quite a while to be ready, and it is expected for the year 2026. The R3 platform, which will possibly give rise to models such as a saloon or a compact, will take somewhat longer.
Not much has been revealed about it yet, since priority is being given to the one that will serve as the basis for the R2 models, which will have off-road characteristics. The brand’s intention is precisely for all vehicles to be attractive and exciting to drive. So although they will be smaller and more restrained vehicles, they will continue to offer the same as the brand’s first models.
All of this came about thanks to an interview that podcaster Marques Brownlee, of WVFRM, conducted with the brand’s CEO, RJ Scaringen. In this conversation they discussed these issues and others related to the brand.
