Road trip to Italy: behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Orlando

Last year we launched a new kind of test at Highmotor, thanks to the collaboration of Subaru, we were able to test an LPG-powered Outback across France, seeing how the car behaves, the charging points, what stands out about the car, its flaws and, in short, covering far more miles than an ordinary model test allows.

Just a few months ago we used the same formula and, thanks to the collaboration of Honda, we took a Honda Accord Type S with 180 CV to the Geneva Motor Show, a moment we used to test the powerful Japanese saloon through Franco-Swiss territory. This type of test also lets you go sightseeing without leaving home, because we talk not only about the car but also about the route, the villages and the interesting places to visit.

And this time we wanted to take a very well-known and stunningly beautiful route from Spain to Italy, through the French Riviera and up into northern Italy, without leaving out Tuscany, Venice or Lakes Garda and Como. For this journey, and thanks to the collaboration of Chevrolet, we have decided to test the new MPV in its range, the Orlando, a car ideal for families and also well suited to testing on the road.

Over 10 days we will travel through four countries (Spain, France, Monaco and Italy). We will tell you which places and villages you must not miss along the way, and how the Chevrolet Orlando performs with its 163 CV 2.0 VCDI diesel engine, covering performance, consumption, handling, as well as its interior space and all the details we discover along the way.

We will carry out the test in two phases. The journey starts tomorrow, the 16th, and over the next 10 days we will tell you live about the car’s impressions, curiosities and more on our Twitter. As soon as we finish the test, on Highmotor we will tell you the whole story from the start of the journey to the end, so you don’t miss a single detail.

To follow us on Twitter, all the tweets about the test will carry the hashtag #orlandoitaliahm, so you can keep up with us easily. We hope you find it interesting, and for those who cannot travel during these holiday dates, we offer you the chance to combine your passion for cars with your love of travel.

Let’s go!
