Roewe RX5 2022: will it be the next launch from MG in Europe?

The Chinese company SAIC has several brands with a significant presence in various markets. One of them is Roewe, which has been gaining ground in several Asian markets over the last few years. Now, it has just presented the new generation of the Roewe RX5, which arrives to update the model in those markets. We are a bit far off, but there are plenty of chances it will reach the European market under the MG banner.

Originally, the MG Marvel R was sold in the Asian market as Roewe Marvel R, so there are many chances this model will also arrive in Europe soon. This model, which is coming soon, will serve to offer a more sporty and attractive look to the range. It will add more elements that will enhance its sportiness.

Interior with cutting-edge technology

On-board technology features a 27-inch screen, which stretches from the instrument area to the centre of the dashboard. Interestingly, this screen has a movement range of up to 30 centimetres, allowing the passenger to keep some control over it even when sitting somewhat further away from their position.

The equipment is quite complete and includes air conditioning, heated and ventilated electric seats, a panoramic sunroof, an automatic opening tailgate, keyless entry, keyless start, tinted windows, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and other elements to enhance safety and comfort.

Looking under the bonnet, what we will find in this new generation of the Roewe RX5 is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. It works on the Miller cycle and delivers 188 CV. This is paired with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The drivetrain is completed by a 79 CV electric motor.

We will have to wait and see what range this model has and whether it will finally reach our roads. If it does, it won’t take more than a couple of years to be ready, so we won’t have to wait long.
