SEAT e-Scooter, the brand's electric urban mobility alternative, is now a reality

At the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, the Spanish brand has presented its new electric scooter designed for urban mobility

A few days ago SEAT surprised us with the news that it would present a concept model of an electric scooter aimed at urban electric mobility. At that time, the Spanish brand offered little information on the matter and invited all media to the event Smart City Expo World Congress. Not only is it the first motorcycle SEAT has ever built in its 70 years of history, but it is also a fully electric scooter.

The SEAT e-Scooter has been developed together with Silence, the brand specialised in the development of electric motorcycles. That said, SEAT has not limited itself to taking one of the Catalan brand’s models; instead, it has worked in collaboration with it to create a new electric scooter.

A completely new scooter

The SEAT e-Scooter has a new design, although it shares some characteristics with the Silence S01 scooter, but only at a technical level. Aesthetically it has a modern, futuristic look, with a low front end and LED lights that help maintain that current image, which makes it a rather interesting model.

The concept model is designed to carry two passengers, who can store their helmets under the seat. Mechanically, it shares the 7 kW motor with its production sibling, which is capable of delivering peaks of 11 kW, equivalent to 14.5 CV. The maximum torque is 240 Nm at the axle, which allows it to reach a top speed of 100 km/h. This capability makes it a scooter comparable to a 125 cc model, which puts it in a very good position.

The battery fitted to this electric scooter allows a range of 115 kilometres on the WMTC cycle. It is a lithium-ion cell pack developed by Silence itself, which can be removed using a trolley-type system. The charging cost per 100 kilometres has been set at €0.70, which makes it a very efficient means of transport that allows free movement around the city at a very low cost.

SEAT is preparing an efficient infrastructure around the e-Scooter, with chargers for it and for the SEAT eXS electric kick scooter, as well as the future SEAT e-Kickscooter. All of this will be included in a new department called SEAT Urban Mobility, so we may be looking at a new electric mobility challenge from the Spanish brand.
