SEAT León Cupra ST Carbon Edition: only 50 units for the UK

Sportiness is one of the most acclaimed features not only by motoring enthusiasts but also by manufacturers, a passion that drives them to create all kinds of vehicles. Among them, we must highlight sporty estates, a type of car that combines comfort with radicalness. Within this segment we find the SEAT León Cupra ST, one of the latest models from the Spanish brand to incorporate the Cupra name into its title and which has been wrapped in a special edition exclusively for the United Kingdom known as the Cabron Edition.

The split between SEAT and Cupra resulted in the formation of an independent brand under the latter’s name, and which is dedicated solely to sports vehicles. However, SEAT keeps the León Cupra under its wing, one of the most radical models the Spanish brand has created to date and, before it becomes known solely as the Cupra, this special edition has come into being.

In it, we find subtle changes that make this special edition true to its name, as they are applied to the León Cupra various components finished in carbon fibre. In this way, exclusivity is more firmly established on the Spanish sports car, as it draws on materials typical of supercars and a more radical, aggressive overall finish.

This is reflected in elements such as the diffuser, splitter, mirror caps or side skirts, all of which are fully made from carbon fibre. At the same time, the exhaust has adopted a new design, as we can now see four outlets instead of the two oval ones we have become accustomed to from both SEAT and the already familiar Cupra.

However, the sportiness of SEAT’s most radical models is not only found in the exterior design, but also in its mechanics. That is why the León Cupra ST Carbon Edition has under its bonnet the turbocharged 2.0 TSI four-cylinder engine, capable of producing 300 CV and 380 Nm of torque. These figures allow the 0 to 100 sprint to take place in 5.7 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

This special edition comes with a starting price of £35,575, which equates to roughly 40,000 euros at current exchange rates. Only 50 units will be built, exclusive to the United Kingdom, and they could mark the end of the SEAT León Cupra era, as the sporty version of the next generation of the Spanish compact will form part of the Cupra family.
