Six customizations of the Citroën AMI at Milan Design Week

Gallery owner Rossana Orlandi has brought together several designers to create different versions of the Citroën AMI, which were presented at Milan Design Week.

The customization of vehicles on the market is something very important. Having a standardized model helps keep prices down, but the possibility of introducing personalized elements is something very important and that concerns buyers. It is not unusual for special editions to aim to make the most of this customization, and brands use them to showcase all of these possibilities.

The Citroën AMI has passed through the hands of several fashion designers, all of them participants in Milan Design Week. Each of them has created their own design for the small French electric city car and given it a different personality. This project was born from the collaboration between the brand and gallery owner Rossana Orlandi. She accepted the challenge and chose five designers to complement the model’s customization project.

Les Ami de Ro

This project, which includes the gallery owner herself, is called Les Ami de Ro, and the six artists have created a unique customization design. The six proposals start from the gallery owner’s. She has named hers Mon AMI, because it defines her point of view on urban mobility and the vehicle itself.

Rossana Orlandi has created a design in white, the color that conveys positivity, together with a graphic style that conveys tenderness. She has added a clover, an image meant to project luck and boldness. This customized model is hers and hers alone, so the door carries the name of the version, Mon AMI.

The other proposals, offered by the other artists, are as follows:

  • Daniela Guerini: The designer and stylist worked on the AMI thinking of it as “an original vehicle, a bit wild and vain“. She decorated it with vivid colors and named it Kerryon.
  • Yukio Nagai: The Japanese designer specializes in creating the appearance of wood and other materials through pattern designs. These also appear in her proposal for the AMI variant. It is called Tessera, and several floral motifs decorate the exterior of the AMI.
  • Paola Navoe: The Italian designer works in various fields, such as architecture, product design, designs for shops and companies, and other aspects of decoration. Her proposal is named <em>BRUM. The design features a bodywork with polka dots, each different from the others and in imperfect shapes.
  • Draga Obradovic: This multidisciplinary artist works in furniture design, textiles and interior design. She designed her AMI in the same style she uses in her work in other fields. She has called her proposal My Way and wants it to be positive, vibrant and to evoke reminiscences of nature.
  • Ludovica Serafina: The designer seeks inspiration in everyday life and nature. Her designs tell intimate and personal stories that she wants to convey to others. Her proposal is called Oxygène. Her proposal points to a vehicle that neither uses nor alters the oxygen in the air and leaves trees and the rest of nature intact.
