Cars with electric mobility are growing in a market that is increasingly popular and offers more models to choose from. Skoda is preparing new models to show at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2019. These two models will be part of the Czech brand’s line-up at the German event.

The Skoda Electric Citigo iV is the brand’s fully electric proposal, developed alongside two other models from Group Volkswagen brands, such as the Volkswagen e-Up! and the SEAT e-Mii. In fact, the electric drive system is the same one these two models will use.

This is a motor with an output equivalent to 84 CV, powered by electricity supplied by a 36.8 kWh battery pack. This battery offers a range of 265 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, a figure slightly higher than more appealing models such as the Volkswagen e-Golf. The good news about this model is that the brand reportedly intends to give it a price below 20,000 euros, making it an affordable electric model for European buyers.

The Skoda Superb iV PHEV is the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model and shares its hybrid powertrain with the Volkswagen Passat GTE. This consists of a 1.4-litre TSI petrol combustion engine and an electric motor that adds an output equivalent to 114 CV, together delivering a combined output of 215 CV and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. It is equipped with a 13 kWh battery, which gives it an all-electric range of 55 kilometres.

The Skoda commitment to electric mobility is very strong, so it has also announced that it will soon invest 35 million euros to install 7,000 chargers at the brand’s facilities and their surroundings across Europe to make it easier to charge the batteries of its new electric models.
