Skoda Karoq 2022: this is how the renewed model will look next year

After several previews of the Skoda model’s renewal, the details and several images of the renewed Skoda Karoq for 2022 have been published.

In 2017 the Skoda Karoq arrived, and it was already due an update to bring the range in line with the technology that has been incorporated into vehicles. A few days ago this styling change was announced along with new elements to make it far more current and modern. Now the images of these changes have been made public, and we are going to be able to see them in this article.

The Skoda Karoq is built on the same platform as the SEAT Ateca and has become the second best-selling model behind the Skoda Octavia. For that reason, an update is considered necessary for it to remain a popular model among potential buyers.

The Skoda Karoq has received styling treatment that brings it closer to the brand’s other current models. The front features a new hexagonal grille and a bumper with air intakes that give it a fresh look. The headlights are narrower and, optionally, matrix LED technology is included. At the rear, the light clusters have also been modified and made slimmer.

The rear skirt has also been modified; it is body-coloured, and the black rear diffuser has a new embossed graphic.

The wheels are light-alloy with black plastic inserts and are available in sizes from 17 to 19 inches. The rear spoiler helps improve the model’s aerodynamic coefficient and, according to the brand, will improve its CO2 emissions figure.

The size has grown slightly, mainly due to the larger bumpers. It goes from 4,382 mm to 4,390 mm, although the other dimensions remain the same, with a width of 1,841 mm and a wheelbase of 2,638 mm for front-wheel-drive models and 2,630 mm for four-wheel-drive versions.

The boot also keeps its size and offers a capacity of 511 litres, although if equipped with VarioFlex seats it can reach 588 litres. These seats can slide up to 150 mm to give a little more legroom or to increase boot space.

Updated interior

The interior remains the same, although the model has incorporated new driver-assistance systems. It will be available in three trims: Active, Ambition and Style, although a Sportline variant will join the range. All three will feature an 8-inch instrument display, although a 10.25-inch version will be optionally available.

As for the touchscreen, the two current options remain: 6.5 inches on the entry-level versions and others of 8 and 9.2 inches. Digital DAB radio reception is added, and it has an eSIM card for internet connectivity. It will have a voice-recognition interface called Laura that can understand 15 languages, and updates will be delivered remotely.

It will also feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for connecting to mobile phones. In the field of ADAS technology, the Travel Assist package is included. This includes, among other systems, a 360º camera, lane-keeping system, active cruise control with Stop&Start and other new features that enhance safety while driving.

Engines

The Skoda Karoq’s engine line-up consists of three petrol engines and two diesels. These offer power ranging from 110 CV in the entry-level version up to 190 CV at the top of the range. The 2.0-litre TSI with 190 CV is exclusively paired with the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
