Smart Concept #1: presentation of the brand's first electric SUV
This mid-size SUV has been one of the major novelties at the Munich Motor Show, where it was unveiled with a modern, avant-garde image

Only a few months ago, we learned through a series of teasers that Smart would unveil its first electrified SUV, to be presented at the Munich Motor Show which is taking place these very days. With this launch, Smart wants to show us the direction it intends to take and also make it clear that electrification is one of its major priorities.
This compact SUV is called Smart Concept #1 and was born from the partnership between Daimler and Geely, who worked together to develop this charming vehicle which, although it does not clearly follow the concept we all understand as a Smart, has managed to retain its essence.
The platform on which this vehicle will be built is the SEA modular platform. A base that will house this B-SUV measuring 4.29 metres in length, 1.91 metres in width and 1.70 metres in height.
A clean, carefully crafted design
At the front, the new large-sized grille stands out greatly, along with its sharp headlights featuring LED technology and its bonnet with smooth shapes alongside its short overhangs.
The same goes for the rear, where we find elegant LED tail lights that run from side to side across the rear of the SUV and which stand out for their short overhang.

On the side, one of the major novelties of this concept is that the rear doors open in the opposite direction to the front doors. In addition, all the door handles are flush-mounted, giving it a clean design. The 21-inch wheels are the icing on the cake of this small SUV.
Spacious, bright and technological interior
Inside, this Smart Concept #1 stands out for its generous interior space thanks to a fairly generous wheelbase, and also for its brightness, something it can boast thanks to the glass panoramic roof that lets light flood the entire cabin.

Besides the points already mentioned, this interior features a large 12.8-inch 3D touchscreen inserted in the centre of the dashboard, creating a technological, luxurious and modern atmosphere.
As could not be otherwise, the fact that it is a technological car is not only due to it being electric and having an advanced infotainment system, but also to the wide range of driver assistance systems it offers, such as parking assistant, lane keeping or even an app where you can check the battery level or the location of the small SUV.

For the time being we have no confirmed date for this car’s arrival at our dealerships, although if everything goes to plan, it should reach dealers in 2022 in China and subsequently the European market.
