Someone is already daring to take on the Porsche Taycan

Hennessey is taking on the Porsche Taycan. The tuned model won’t reach the market until 2020, but it will feature more aggressive wheels and bumpers.

The Stuttgart brand presented the Porsche Taycan 2020 less than a month ago, but Hennessey has already announced that it will become its first modified electric vehicle.

The Texas-based tuner is keeping the details secret, but CEO John Hennessey said: “We felt the new Porsche Taycan was the right platform to modify our first electric car.”

He went on to say that the modifications will be relatively minor, as they will be mainly “simple” changes. John Hennessey did not go into detail, but hinted that these updates will include new wheels and tires, as well as more aggressive front and rear bumpers. We can also expect some interior improvements, but there is no information on specifics.

While fans are likely to be disappointed, as the updates are cosmetic, Hennessey suggested that could change in the future. As he explained, further down the road “we’ll see what might be possible in terms of adding more power.”

Of course, fans will have to wait a while in case Hennessey doesn’t get his Taycan until 2020. However, it will be interesting to see what they come up with, since Hennessey said: “We don’t want to reinvent the wheel in the electrified market. We just want it to roll a little faster and cooler!”

It’s unclear how much power a tuned Taycan could produce, but the standard Taycan Turbo has two electric motors producing up to 680 CV. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, reach a top speed of 260 km/h, and a range of up to 450 km on a single charge.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is even more extreme, with a combined output of up to 761 CV. This reduces the 0-100 km/h time to 2.8 seconds, but the top speed remains unchanged at 260 km/h. Range also drops to 412 km.
