SsangYong's e-XIV Concept: first official images

SsangYong will present the third concept in the XIV series, which this time uses solar energy for the accessories and an extended-range hybrid powertrain.

A few days ago David showed us the first details of the SsangYong e-XIV Concept, and now we bring you the first images of the concept just a few hours before the Paris Motor Show begins. The Korean brand is entering the world of compact CUVs or SUVs, this time with a range-extended hybrid.

For reference, we can imagine that the e-XIV Concept is roughly similar in size to the Nissan Juke, if we compare the dimensions of both. The SsangYong model is just a little wider, longer and has a longer wheelbase than the Nissan, although sometimes the difference is only a few millimetres.

This concept already has two predecessors presented at the Frankfurt and Geneva shows: the XIV-1 Concept and the XIV-2 Concept, the first standing out for its doors opening in the opposite direction and the second for its retractable roof. The third and current model features a system that uses solar energy to power the air conditioning and other vehicle accessories, as well as the lights.

It seems the intention is not to sell this concept, but a similar five-door one, although the launch dates for the final model have not yet been decided.
