Stellantis will manufacture large commercial vans for Toyota in Europe
The two groups are increasing their collaboration in the manufacture of commercial vehicles with the addition of a large van using Stellantis models

Stellantis and Toyota have reached an agreement to manufacture large commercial vans. These will be built in Europe and will target the European market. This is not the first partnership between the two groups, which have already collaborated before on the development of compact and mid-size commercial vans.
However, these vans will not arrive until 2024. Production will take place at the Gliwice plant in Poland and at the Atessa plant in Italy. The models resulting from this partnership will be sold under the Japanese brand, so it will be its first foray into this segment.

There is no information yet about the details of this commercial vehicle, but it is expected to be very similar to Stellantis models, such as the Citroën Jumper, the Peugeot Boxer or the Fiat Ducato. All of them were presented in 2006, are offered in several sizes and different wheelbases, and also have an electric drivetrain variant.
Looking at the strategy followed by Toyota with the ProAce City and ProAce, the new large commercial van from Toyota will follow the path offered by the Stellantis models. To differentiate them, it will surely include some detail from the Toyota design language.
A fruitful partnership
The partnership between Toyota and Stellantis for the production of commercial vehicles began in 2012 with a mid-size commercial vehicle built at the Stellantis plant in Hordain (France). In 2019 the collaboration was expanded to include the compact commercial vehicles built at the Vigo plant.
The range is completed with the addition of this large commercial vehicle, which will use Stellantis technology and production to strengthen its presence in this range. Within it we find the Proace, the Proace City and the pick-up Hilux, so it will be complete, offering a solution for every type of user.
