Suzuki calls on Volkswagen to apologize publicly

It seems that Osamu Suzuki, president of Suzuki, is one of those hardline executives who has not let himself be overshadowed by the giant Volkswagen, not even after the partnership between the two manufacturers began to crack. The one now attacking is Suzuki, demanding that Volkswagen publicly apologize.

Osamu Suzuki made this demand in a personal letter addressed to Volkswagen’s CEO, Martin Winterkorn, in which he states that he has until September 30 to apologize for Volkswagen’s accusation that Suzuki violated their agreement by purchasing diesel engines from Fiat.

Suzuki says the accusation caused him to lose worldwide prestige, and that Volkswagen has always denied its Japanese partners access to Volkswagen’s technology. He also points out that the agreement with Fiat had been approved by both brands in January and that the purchase was made because Volkswagen’s engines did not meet certain required technical specifications. Will Suzuki reveal other things that Volkswagen wants kept hidden?
