A family vehicle must have enough cargo space to carry everything needed on family outings and then some. That is why Volkswagen is bringing the new design of the Volkswagen Sharan to the Spanish market in October, with a model whose capacity has been reviewed, a completely new look, a very comprehensive standard and optional equipment list, lower consumption and the brand’s latest technological advances.

The Sharan will arrive as the Premium MPV, a new benchmark in the MPV segment, and will feature seven seats and rear sliding doors as standard. The range will be split into three versions, called Edition, Advance and Sport, with the latest-generation TSI and TDI Common-Rail engines.

Volkswagen has spared no expense when it comes to comfort in this vehicle. As an option, it will include the side doors, one of the most significant new features of this third-generation Sharan, available in an automatic closing and opening version that includes an anti-trapping system. The versions available in Spain will be 6- and 7-seat (the latter as standard), arranged in three rows. It will also feature air conditioning, infotainment system and numerous storage compartments for greater interior convenience.

The three trim levels will be distinguished by bi-zone Climatronic, the “RCD 310” radio with MP3 playback, 16-inch steel wheels, pre-installation for Bluetooth phone connectivity, polished aluminium inserts on the instrument cluster and centre console, and hill start assist, among other features. The higher versions, Advance and Sport, come with top-level equipment, including the “RCD 510” radio with MP3 and 8 speakers (4 x 20W); the light and vision package, which includes the “Coming Home” and “Leaving Home” functions, as well as rain sensor and “Tempomat” cruise control. The Sport version also offers “Sydney” 17-inch alloy wheels, a sport chassis, as well as sport seats trimmed in Alcantara with heating and directional Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. In terms of dimensions, the third generation will be 22 centimetres longer than its predecessor and can offer a cargo capacity of 2,297 litres in the 7-seat version.

Now to the engines. There will be four engines to choose from, two diesel and two petrol. Initially, the 140 CV TDI Common-Rail and the 150 CV 1.4 TSI petrol engine will arrive, both available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or DSG automatic gearbox. Shortly, the range will be joined by the 170 CV 2.0 TDI Common-Rail (manual and DSG) and the 200 CV 2.0 TSI with 6-speed DSG gearbox.
