Tesla is once again offering the seven-seat configuration on the Model Y in Europe

With the Model Y’s renovation just over a year ago, Tesla temporarily removed the optional 7-seat configuration that had been available until then for this electric SUV, highly valued by customers with large families. Although much later than expected, the North American manufacturer has now finally brought this configuration back to the European market.

If we visit the Tesla website for Spain and other European countries, we can see that we can now add the 7-seat configuration when ordering a new Model Y, though with some important limitations.

First, it should be noted that this option is only available for the Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive version. Tesla considers this new seven-seat configuration a premium equipment item, which is why it can only be selected for this version, the second most expensive, just below the high-performance Performance version.

How much does this new configuration cost?

Adding this option when placing the order will increase the final amount to be paid by 2,500 euros, to be added to the 52,990 euros this version costs. The total price will therefore be 55,490 euros, as long as we do not add any other available options such as paint colour or the driver-assistance packages. It should also be noted that the seven-seat configuration is available with both black and white versions of these packages.

Once the order is completed, Tesla currently offers a delivery time of between one and three months, promising that the vehicle will be in the customer’s hands by next April, or May at the latest.

Finally, it should be pointed out that, from a technical standpoint, the seven-seat Model Y incorporates two additional seats at the cost of reducing luggage space when they are deployed. Tesla promises that in this last case the luggage space available is 381 litres, whereas in the five-seat Model Y, or when these two additional seats are folded down, it is almost 900 litres.

Many customers are now left wishing the Model Y L would come to Europe

The return of this seven-seat configuration for the Model Y has surely been welcomed with open arms by many customers who have been waiting for it for a long time. In any case, given that in the Chinese market a variant of the Model Y with an extended wheelbase and six seats is currently on offer, which considerably improves the available interior space, many of these customers will now be hoping that this variant of the Model Y is also sold in Europe.

It remains to be seen what the level of demand for the seven-seat Model Y will be in Europe, and whether the still unconfirmed rumours about a possible launch of the 7-seat variant on the continent do not end up hampering its sales.
