That is how impressive the Porsche Taycan is reaching its top speed

The Porsche Taycan, the brand’s first electric car, manages to reach its top speed on the Autobahn, where it also showed off its 761 CV.

The Porsche Taycan is the latest creation from the people of Stuttgart and its first 100% electric vehicle, a condition that does not exempt it from being a true marvel of sportiness. And we have already witnessed the potential of the German saloon on the Top Gear test track, where it managed to dethrone the colossal Bugatti Veyron. Nevertheless, the Taycan still has a lot to say about its performance, and now it has been spotted in the vicinity of the Autobahn to show off its capability as a sporty electric vehicle.

Porsche is very clear that sportiness and electricity are not two incompatible traits, and the Taycan is irrefutable proof of this. Although this new lifeline arrived on the market as a cheaper and less polluting alternative to petrol, many brands quickly decided to take advantage of these features and apply them to a vehicle of greater character.

We must not forget that behind that sinuous saloon styling lies a car capable of outperforming genuine combustion supercars, which suffer against the brutal acceleration of electric cars. Although this type of vehicle still does not feel completely comfortable on motorways -areas where its electricity consumption soars- has managed to prove its potential for travelling from A to B at full speed.

Following the Turbo S variant of the Porsche Taycan, we find two electric motors capable of producing a staggering 761 CV and 1,050 Nm of torque. Thanks to these figures, the German saloon can cover 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h, a range it managed to exceed in just over nine seconds.

And this is how Porsche introduces us to a new type of mechanics that arrives ready to keep intact the pedigree characteristic of its combustion-engined siblings. Despite the traffic on the German motorway and despite the constant braking the Taycan’s driver has to perform, we can see how it manages to reach 269 km/h, although according to the gauge inside the car it is 261 km/h.

For the time being the Taycan is the German brand’s only electric bet and, although hybridisation is present in other models, we will soon see more 100% electric vehicles. This is how a new era begins within Porsche, a company that promises to remain faithful to its essence while adapting to the times and to legislation.
