THE 2010: the Chrysler 200 is unveiled

Ahead of the unveiling of its bigger brother, the 300C, and the updates to the Durango and the Charger, it seems that the American brand has finally decided to do things properly. There was still room for one more model aimed at everyday use, and the Chrysler 200 is presented as a mid-size saloon with improvements in equipment quality over what was standard with the Sebring and the 200 itself.
Although it still uses the Sebring’s structure, the 200 features new body panels, a new front end and better interior equipment. Gone are the cheap plastics that were common when you had recently got into a Sebring, a promise the CEO of Chrysler has kept by previously pledging to improve interior materials, one of the brand’s long-standing (historical) outstanding issues.
The new 2011 200 configuration will continue to use the basic engine, the 2.4-litre four-cylinder, which is already showing its age. But for the better-equipped version it will use the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 (now they’re going to dazzle us with the Pentastar), along with six-speed automatic gearboxes and an optional dual-clutch unit for the four-cylinder model, a version not yet officially confirmed.
