Ford wanted to add a splash of colour to the new Mustang, and to do so it has introduced three new shades. Need for Green will arrive this coming summer.

Launching a new model is not always easy, especially when it comes to replacing a generation of an automotive icon. This dilemma arises at the Ford offices every time they have to consider changing the Mustang, a daunting task that has been heightened by the muscle car’s presence in Europe. After its arrival in these parts, the Blue Oval brand decided to introduce a series of changes to keep the essence of the Mustang up to date, and they have succeeded.

The differences between the two models are not major, since the Mustang is one of those models that seeks to keep its personality intact, something that also happens with the Porsche 911 and the Volkswagen New Beetle. However, the Ford design team has known how to give the new generation of the quintessential pony car a fresh and original touch, thanks to the introduction of a series of more striking and sporty colours.

The blue stripes contrasting with the white bodywork have always been a hallmark of the Ford Mustang, but the American brand wanted to expand its horizons, let its hair down and allow its customers to personalise the sports car even more. After taking this decision, we are presented with three new and very different shades, starting with an orange called Orange Fury, passing through a burgundy colour called Royal Crimson and ending with an attractive green christened Need for Green.

With these three new colours in the Mustang’s palette, customers will be able to give free rein to their imagination and create new combinations of wheels and stripes to their liking. In this way, the sporty character of the muscle car will remain intact and, at the same time, it will offer a more renewed image than if they had limited themselves to aesthetic changes.

However, a beautiful and colourful bodywork is not all the new Mustang has to offer, since the mechanics complement the package the American car provides. As is customary, the pony car will be offered in Europe with two engine options, which carry the EcoBoost and GT badges respectively. In the more modest variant of the Mustang, the brand offers a 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine capable of delivering 290 CV, while for the purists a powerful 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 heart that produces 450 CV and 529 Nm of torque has been reserved.

The combination of aesthetics and mechanics comes together harmoniously in the new Mustang to deliver a perfect result. The American brand has confirmed that it will be this summer when Mustang customers can add a touch of green to their favourite muscle car, although we are not yet aware whether it will be available on European versions.
