The 4 most beastly versions of the BMW M2 of 2018. Which one would you choose?

A designer shows the different versions of the BMW M2 (2018) that have been considered in recent months.

The BMW M2 is a very special car. The German sports coupé is the only one in its category that offers rear-wheel drive, and there are already many who prefer it over the all-powerful M4; something unthinkable a few years ago. For this reason, the Munich-based firm has already got down to work so that the BMW M2 it will launch in 2018 is offered in different, even more radical versions, and when we see the options on the table, we can do nothing but pray that all of them become reality.

The extreme variants of the BMW M2 will be based on the update the model will receive in 2018, and although we still don’t know how many will reach the production line, here we have a visual summary (renderings) of what could happen, thanks to designer Monholo Oumar.

  1. BMW M2 2018

BMW M2 versionesThe first images of its update were leaked a few days ago on the blog Bimmertoday. The restyling of the BMW M2 will not bring major changes in the visual section; in fact, its look will be practically the same as that of the current model (2015). The changes in the aesthetic section are only recognisable in the optical groups, which have been minimally modified.

The engine brings no novelty either: it will keep its 3.0 turbocharged six-cylinder block with 370 CV and 465 Nm.

  1. BMW M2 2018 “Performance Pack”

The Performance pack gives the current BMW M2 a series of elements that increase its sportiness. Among them is an Akrapovic exhaust system that contributes to a 10 CV increase in power, a rear diffuser that increases the vehicle’s aerodynamic downforce, as well as widened front and rear bumpers and side skirts. The Performance kit also incorporates decorative stickers in the colours of BMW Motorsport (the racing division of the German brand). We will see what improvements the 2018 M2 “Performance” introduces…

  1. BMW M2 CS

The BMW M2 CS will reach the market in early 2018. The little brother of the M4 CS is doing its tuning at the Nürburgring circuit, and although so far it has only been seen in camouflaged form, its appearance could be very similar to that of the following image.

It is most likely that the M2 CS will use the same engine as the M4 CS, although with slightly reduced performance. Its power is estimated to be around 400 CV. In addition, the BMW M2 CS will receive a small revision of the suspension and brakes compared to the 2018 M2. Its weight will also be reduced thanks to the use of carbon fibre, and it will incorporate a specific exhaust system. This version would bring the BMW M2 closer to one of its great rivals: the Porsche Cayman GT4.

  1. BMW M2 CSL

The BMW M2 CSL is the product of the imagination of designer Monholo Oumar, and although we should not rule out its future inclusion in the BMW M family, it is unlikely to happen, at least in the short term. The Bavarian brand has no interest in launching this version, since the CS version is already among its plans. Despite this, it is impossible not to praise the impressive design of this rendering and its enormous rear spoiler.

Furthermore, it should be noted that this hypothetical model has received several aesthetic elements from the BMW 2002 Hommage Concept, a prototype presented last year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the legendary BMW 2002.

Inside, it features a roll cage in the purest M4 GTS style, sports seats that are ultralight, and upholstery that combines carbon fibre and Alcantara.

The little brother of the M4 GTS has also been visualised by a designer, in this case by X-Tomi Design. As with the M2 CSL, its short-term production seems unlikely. Can you imagine an M2 with a power output close to 500 CV?
