The 6.0-litre V12 engine of Aston Martin says goodbye with the Vanquish

Aston Martin has decided to withdraw its V12 engines from its range, and the various versions of the Vanquish will be the last to feature this powerful powertrain

It has been a delight to hear it roar under the bonnet of several Aston Martin models, but everything comes to an end, and it seems the time has come to say goodbye to the spectacular 6.0-litre V12 engine that has been present in some of the most spectacular cars from the British brand. The powerplant actually displaces 5.9 litres, and it delivers an impressive performance when fitted to the various Vanquish variants.

It is currently fitted to the Vanquish, the Vanquish Zagato and the Vanquish S, which allow you to experience all the magic that an engine of this kind offers. So that ordinary people can get an idea of what this engine means, we only have to watch the video you will find at the end of the article, which shows a Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato tackling the popular Nürburgring circuit.

In the Zagato, this model offers a remarkable output of 592 CV, which allows it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds. But these figures are not the most impressive thing about this V12 powertrain. What makes it remarkable is its character and its interesting performance, which turn this supercar into something very special.

Unlike the V12 engines of Ferrari and Lamborghini, this engine is more restrained and better suited to delivering good performance over long journeys, rather than a sudden burst of power and short-distance sprints. These characteristics will make the various Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato models benchmarks among supercars of all time.

This is not the first time we have discussed the gradual disappearance of 12-cylinder engines, because there are a number of technologies that deliver similar power at a lower cost. Aston Martin itself has removed other models equipped with this engine from its catalogue (), so it is no surprise that the block has finally been dropped from the British brand’s future plans.
