The Alpine A120 is spotted in Paris ahead of its presentation in Geneva

The highly anticipated Alpine A120 will debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Before being officially unveiled to the world, the French brand has decided to take the sports car for a drive through the streets of Paris. The French model still keeps many secrets, although it is expected to offer an engine of up to 300 CV and an approximate weight of 1,000 kg.
The heavily camouflaged prototypes of the Alpine A120 made their way through the Parisian streets, passing close to some of the city’s most emblematic landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

Although the creation of this model has been known for quite some time, the brand has not revealed many details about its performance. The vehicle is expected to feature a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a power output of between 250 and 300 CV. Everything points to this powerplant being derived from the 1.6-litre engine of theRenault Clio RS, which would put the new sports car’s 0 to 100 km/h acceleration at around 4.5 seconds.
In addition, the weight of this model could be as low as 1,000 kilograms, which could result in a very favourable power-to-weight ratio. The aerodynamics of the Alpine A120 will benefit from the use of a completely flat underbody and a specially designed diffuser intended to increase the downforce of the vehicle and its stability.

The production of the Alpine A120 will initially begin with the “Premiere Edition” version, of which only 1,995 units will be built. Its price will range between 55,000 and 60,000 euros. However, Alpine is expected to offer new variants of this sports car in the future.
The successor to the iconic Alpine A110, which shone so brightly in the 1980s, will be officially presented next March at the Geneva Motor Show; that is when we expect most of the unknowns surrounding this model to be resolved.
