Alpine wants to keep writing its history in the world of motorsport, now with fully electric models, with the A290 Rallye as the starting point

Alpine’s history in motorsport is a love story that began in 1955 precisely with the birth of its first model, the A106, so now that times have changed and the brand has decided to bet everything on electrifying its models, it is to be expected that this tradition will at least be upheld. And so it is, because the Alpine A290, its first fully electric model, already has a competition version.

This is the Alpine A290 Rallye, and like its road-going version, the model that marks Alpine’s entry into the electric world, the A290 Rallye will be the entry point into fully electric competition, and it has been designed to comply with the latest FIA rally regulations. It presents a completely racing look that we will soon see on the roads, since right after its presentation the first units of the A290 Rallye will gather for a first rally in France before the end of 2025.

Subsequently, the Alpine A290 Rallye will be delivered to the other interested customers to take part in one-make cups or open competitions, since the A290 Rallye holds all the FIA homologations needed to do so, thanks to the necessary elements that have been installed, such as the welded roll cage and the bucket seats signed by Sabelt.

Mechanically, the Alpine A290 Rallye uses the most powerful motorization of the road-going A290, that is, an electric motor capable of delivering a power output of 220 CV and a torque of 300 Nm transmitted to the front axle through a ZF limited-slip differential, as well as a 52 kWh battery. Obviously, Alpine’s team has also been responsible for specifically tuning other areas such as the reduction gear and the electronic management system, in addition to being equipped with electrical monitoring systems to achieve the maximum use of its energy.

The braking efficiency of the A290 Rallye is ensured thanks to a front axle equipped with 6-piston monobloc calipers and 350 mm discs, while the rear axle uses single-piston calipers with 280 mm discs; not forgetting a specific competition-type ABS system from Alpine Racing and the integration of a hydraulic handbrake. We’re not finished yet, as we must mention the specific suspension with ALP Racing Suspension dampers and the 18-inch EVO Corse wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport A tyres.

The Alpine A290 Rallye will make its public debut this very week during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and then be present at the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine from September 4 to 6. In addition, Alpine has confirmed that the A290 Rallye will have a starting price of 59.990 euros before taxes, which includes the complete car, assembled and painted.
