The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition is the road-going Safety Car everyone wants

Aston Martin has just unveiled the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition, a special edition of the English supercar that brings together the best features of the Safety Car.

It was just a few weeks ago that Aston Martin announced the Aston Martin Vantage would be the new Safety Car for the 2021 season. A few days later, the company itself teased what appeared to be a more radical version of its entry-level supercar. Although we predicted it could be a GT8 or even a GT12, what was hiding in the shadows is what concerns us today: the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition, a special edition that brings the Safety Car’s features to the street.

With this premise, the team from Gaydon has set out to transfer the qualities of a car designed by and for the racetrack to the road version. We now find aesthetic changes, aerodynamic improvements and mechanical modifications that aim to make the Vantage a more precise and effective supercar.

In terms of styling, the English supercar boasts canards on the front and a new splitter, flanked by 21-inch wheels with a new design. But the highlight is a fixed spoiler mounted on the rear hatch of both the coupé and the convertible variants, generating 200 kilos more downforce.

In addition, the Aston Martin Racing Green paint is available for the Vantage F1 Edition, the same shade used by the racing car. The cabin takes advantage of this special edition to showcase Obsidian Black leather upholstery and Phantom Grey Alcantara, materials combined with different trim options at the customer’s choice.

The crux of the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition lies in its mechanical package. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 of AMG origin is retained, but this time it delivers 535 CV, the only increase the English supercar experiences, as torque remains unchanged. In addition, the eight-speed automatic gearbox has been fine-tuned, making downshifts quicker. The steering and chassis rigidity have also been calibrated thanks to modifications to the suspension arms and damper settings.

With all this, the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition arrives on the German market at a price of 162,000 euros. For the time being, the English manufacturer has not mentioned the price for Spain, nor whether this will be a limited edition or a production run that will end within a not-too-distant timeframe.
