The Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra, new world range record
A new Guinness World Record for range has been set by the Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra after covering 1,865 kilometres on a single 73-litre tank of fuel. This range allowed it to travel through 14 countries in central Europe, and to claim the range record.

Last week we told you that the Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra was aiming to break the world range record by covering at least 10 countries on a single tank of fuel. The feat was accomplished by journalist Andrew Frankel and driver and presenter Rebecca Jackson, who managed to travel a total of 14 countries and reach 1,865 kilometres on just 73 litres of diesel.
Setting off from the Netherlands last Tuesday, 9 June, and after a total of 28 hours at the wheel with almost no interruptions, they covered the 1,865 kilometres that took them through the following 14 countries: the Netherlands, Hungary, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.

This route was carefully selected by RAC (the event sponsor) with the aim of avoiding congested cities, mountain roads with steep gradients and motorways that could negatively affect fuel consumption.
The Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra has a homologated fuel consumption of just 4.2 litres per 100 km. Thanks to the meticulous work of Frankel and Jackson, the four-ringed saloon achieved an average consumption during the challenge of 3.7 litres per 100 km, at an average speed of 80 km/h.
