The Audi Q4 e-tron receives its first software update

Greater charging power, compatibility with Plug & Charge and the possibility of wireless updates in the future are some of the new features brought by the new software available for the Q4 e-tron.

The first software update for the Audi Q4 e-tron arrives, version 3.2, which already comes as standard on the electric SUV in its 2023 edition, and which is available for all Audi Q4 e-tron units built to date. Q4 e-tron owners will be contacted by the brand to explain the procedure for installing this update, which will require a visit to the workshop. Once installed, one of the improvements of the new software is that the car will in future be ready to receive new updates wirelessly. But there is more news.

Higher charging power with direct current

Another of the main improvements brought by this software affects charging. The optimised charging power control system has made it possible to increase the maximum DC charging power from 125 to 135 kW, while also adding a protection function that keeps the battery at its ideal state of charge, limiting it to 80% of its capacity.

Further charging-related news includes the function called “Preferred charging time”, which lets you make the most of variable-rate tariffs with lower prices at certain hours, by allowing you to set defined charging windows. In addition, both from the car and from the myAudi app, it is also now possible to use timers to schedule departure time and to have cabin preconditioning run using energy from the wallbox or charging point while the car is plugged in.

The new software also improves consumption by optimising the operation of the thermal management system when conditioning the battery before charging, taking into account both the outside temperature and the battery’s current state. Finally, among the charging-related improvements, the Plug & Charge function also arrives, which allows activation and automatic billing simply by plugging in the charging cable.

Other features added by this update relate to connectivity and personalisation. It will now be possible to customise the ambient lighting in the cabin, choose the background image shown on the multimedia system screen, or use Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant.
