The best-selling cars in the world in 2021: will there be surprises?
During 2021, car registrations grew by 4.5% compared with 2020, and these are the best-selling cars throughout last year.

Every year, the consultancy JATO Dynamics publishes a report on the best-selling cars worldwide. The nature of this ranking means it reflects data from a couple of years earlier, since collecting all the data on an international scale is quite costly. For that reason, the 2021 results have just been made public, and they are very surprising and bring to light very revealing data.
In principle, we can see that Asian brands occupy the top positions and comfortably outperform the others. In 2021, 66.7 million cars were sold in 160 countries. These are the countries taking part in the survey, and the study records that sales rose by 4.5% compared with those recorded in 2020.

Japanese brands dominate the world
For many years, the best-selling car has been the Toyota Corolla, but there has been a major change in the ranking in recent years. Saloons have given way at the top of the list to SUVs. A body style that has gained importance over time and has become the favourite of buyers all over the world.
But there is another development that is interesting and represents an even more important shift in the ranking of the world’s best-selling cars. The presence of an electric car on this list is very significant and points to a path that is expected to become important over the coming years. This car, by the way, is the Tesla Model 3, which with 508,000 units has become the first electric car to enter the ranking.

These are the best-selling cars in the world, with the volumes they have registered worldwide.
