The BMW Concept 4 receives slight touch-ups thanks to this render

The marvellous world of the internet has given rise to some genuinely funny memes and caricatures, and the size of BMW’s kidney grilles has been in the spotlight. The Bavarian house wanted to renew its model range with a more modern and imposing look while staying true to its essence. The result of this recipe was an elegant style and a front end dominated by the characteristic BMW kidney grilles, but with larger dimensions. This has also been applied to one of the main new arrivals on the BMW stand during this latest edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Concept 4, a prototype that previews the future Series 4 and that has already fallen victim to renders.

On this occasion it was designer Mike Maravilla who was tasked not only with slightly modifying this concept car, but also with bringing it a little closer to its future production version. It is true that the details that give the Concept 4 its character are not overly extravagant, and imagining the upcoming Series 4 from its “physiognomy” is relatively straightforward.

But Mike Maravilla wanted to go further and add a touch more sophistication to the whole and make it somewhat less busy. To achieve this effect, a series of modifications were made, mainly to the front end, the area where it is most apparent that we are looking at a prototype and not a production vehicle.

The first thing that catches our attention is the kidney grilles, which have been reduced to give a calmer style. Thanks to the existence of the latest Series 3, we can see more realism in this render of the Concept 4, a vehicle that has also undergone changes on the side, where wheels of considerable diameter have been fitted to make it even more radical.

Last but not least, we also spot a slight spoiler at the rear that can add a further dose of sportiness. The colour range has also been expanded courtesy of the designer, who wanted to widen the palette to let us glimpse which other shades might suit the future Series 4 well.

For the moment BMW has not offered any information about the launch of its quintessential sports car, but given the presence of the Concept 4 in Frankfurt we can assume it will not be long. With this premise, the German firm’s appearance at the Geneva Motor Show may be the ideal occasion to unveil the new Series 4, a car that is becoming a draw for many enthusiasts.
