The BMW Serie 1 has already arrived in Spain, and we look at it in photos and a video

The time has come for dealerships of BMW to have the new Serie 1, whose prices we had previewed a few days ago. The new BMW Serie 1 has received substantial changes, both in the three-door and five-door bodies. The front grille has been reworked to make it more attractive, while the air intakes are larger.

The standard headlights feature LED technology, with daytime running lights that use the same type of lighting. At the rear, the light clusters have also been changed, making them more attractive by using the L-shaped design found on the rest of the BMW range. Inside, design elements have also been changed, such as the centre console, which houses the radio and climate controls.

The equipment has been strengthened with the BMW Professional radio and the iDrive system, which includes the 6.5-inch touchscreen integrated into the dashboard. It also includes automatic emergency calling and, depending on the model’s trim level, a range of add-ons that personalise the car more fully to the buyer’s taste.

And we come to the engine section, one of the most closely watched and one that can lead buyers to choose one model over another. All of them are based on the BMW EfficientDynamics technology of three- and four-cylinder units. The BMW 116d EfficientDynamics is the most efficient version offered in the Serie 1, capable of delivering 116 CV and an average consumption of 3.4 litres per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 89 g/km.

In addition to the manual gearbox, there is the option of the eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox, which comes as standard on the BMW 120d xDrive and BMW M135i xDrive. The ConnectedDrive driver-assistance systems also deserve a mention, as they increase safety and comfort when behind the wheel of these new models. All cars come with a pre-installed SIM card to run several of the features included in the car, such as the emergency call mentioned above.
