The BMW X3 M40i previews the look of the new version of the model
This image gallery shows us what the new BMW X3 will look like, in its M40i version, ahead of the presentation of the base version

The moment has come to see the new BMW X3, and to do so, we can take a look at one of the most sporty and attractive versions of the model. What you’re about to see is a complete image gallery showing us what to expect when this model finally reaches the market, but in the version with the M kit. This is the BMW X3 M40i, which we can see in action showing off its strength and untamed character.
What we can clearly see is that we have a smaller version of a BMW X5, a car that has gained presence and continues the momentum set by its bigger siblings. At the front we can see the kidney-shaped grille, but in 3D, which gives it a more imposing look. The headlights help create that robust and attractive image, and the rear also reinforces this look.

The rear lights also have a three-dimensional look that offers greater visibility. A rear spoiler framed within the rear windscreen and the twin exhausts, together with the 19-inch alloy wheels, help maintain the impression of a powerful crossover, yet with a contained and manageable size. This version we’re seeing in the gallery is, as I’ve already mentioned, one equipped with the M kit, so it has a more aggressive and sporty look than the base model will have, which will be shown shortly.
The interior continues with the design we already know from this family of BMW, but it feels more technological and attractive. The infotainment screen features gesture control and the instrument panel is fully digital, which allows simpler and more attractive access to all the information.
When it comes to the engine, this is the most powerful version, so it will feature a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum output of 360 CV and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Consumption is rated at 8.1 litres per 100 km, and CO2 emissions stand at 188 g/km.

The rest of the engine range will include the sDrive 18d with 150 CV, sDrive/xDrive 20d units with 190 CV, the xDrive 25d with 224 CV, an xDrive 30d delivering a considerable 258 CV, and the M40d, which with 320 CV sits slightly below the first one we’ve seen and is intended solely for the sporty version. In petrol, we find two sDrive/xDrive 20i engines with 190 CV and the xDrive 30i unit offering 252 CV, all of them in the different variants that will be revealed shortly.
Little by little we’ll learn more details, both about the base version and about this sporty variant. For now, enjoy an image gallery that will show you this is a remarkable car that has nothing to envy from its bigger siblings.
