This is the new Peugeot Pick-Up, a model aimed at the African continent
After several years away, Peugeot wants to return to the top of the African market with its Pick-Up model, a simple design suited to local needs

Despite the enormous improvement in pick-ups and having a series of advantages to increase sales, this type of vehicle still does not enjoy the popularity it has in other markets, regardless of whether those are more or less powerful. One of them is Africa, where pick-ups account for 10% of the total and, moreover, where Peugeot has reigned for years with the 403, 404 and 504 models, the latter ending its production in 2005 at the Nigerian plant.
With such an excellent calling card, Peugeot wants to reign once again in Africa with the new Pick-Up, a model that is genuinely simple as you can see in the images, since at first glance, and with a bit of dirt on it, it could easily pass for a fairly old model. In fact, if it had to undergo the various safety and emissions tests we have in Europe, the results would be a disaster, but the market where it will be sold is another story.

Its exterior design, as you can see, is very simple, with clearly horizontal lines and not particularly attractive, but it conveys a certain sense of robustness. The double cab has behind it the load bed with a length of 1.40 metres and a width of 1.39 metres, covered with a resin liner, capable of supporting a maximum load of 815 kg. No images of the interior are offered, but judging by the exterior we can imagine it being austere and full of hard plastics.
As with its design, the engine range is also limited, offered only with a common rail 2,500 cc turbo diesel engine with 2,500 cc and a power output of 115 CV and 280 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox, available in 4×4 and 4×2 versions. The 4×4 version will have a transfer case, so we can select 4H (High) and 4L (Low) modes from a selector on the driver’s dashboard.

The equipment level is not exactly lavish either, with standard features including air conditioning, a radio-CD with USB port, ABS, electric windows, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger airbags and electrically adjustable mirrors. The 4×4 version is distinguished by chrome bars on the bed and roof, as well as side steps for easier access.
