The BMW X6 M Competition is already warming up its engines

The BMW X6 M Competition is already being tuned on the track that the Bavarian brand has in the south of France. For now, there are many unknowns about the model.

The BMW X6 2020 debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few days ago, but that has not stopped the company from teasing the upcoming BMW X6 M with a teaser that has left more than one person with their mouths watering.

Filmed at the BMW test center in Miramas, France, the clip stars Matthias Malmedie, who takes a spin in a prototype of the BMW X6 M Competition.

The video starts off quite slowly, but Malmedie eventually meets Rainer, who is the overall lead of the vehicle project for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M. Then, they take a look at a heavily camouflaged prototype that features a massive grille and a revised front bumper with larger air intakes. The crossover also has front fender vents, a four-tailpipe sport exhaust system, and a small rear spoiler.

The duo then looks inside. The cabin is largely carried over from the new BMW X6, but there are a handful of unique touches that are hidden in the video. Apparently they include a unique gear selector, M-branded door sill plates, and headrests with special embroidery. Drivers can also expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and an M leather-wrapped steering wheel with contrasting stitching.

After examining the crossover, Malmedie meets up with Bernd and the pair hits the track. While the clip does not reveal the performance specifications, Bernd hints that the model has improved off-road capability.

The video is brief on details, but the new BMW X6 M is expected to have a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 600 CV and 750 Nm of peak torque. The BMW X6 M Competition will be even more powerful, as it is slated to have 625 CV. Since BMW has already started the teaser campaign for the model, a debut should be just around the corner, possibly as early as the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

“I’m as excited as a little kid.” The journalist and reference authority on German television for car enthusiasts experienced the pure pleasure of driving M and got an exclusive first look. His verdict: “The X6 M delivers. In every possible way.”
