In the US, when it comes to talking about cars, nothing annoys the fans of one or the other more than when their arguments are rebutted by the opposing side. Is the Ford Mustang better, or the Chevrolet Camaro? On one hand, the new Mustang with the return of the 5-litre engine and EcoBoost engines in its future, and on the other, the Camaro, one of the most spectacular revivals of recent years in the world of muscle cars.

But on the side of the executives at Ford or GM, nothing matters more than selling more cars than the rival brand, whatever model they may be. Between the Mustang and the Camaro, the rivalry does not end on the streets, on deserted roads or while waiting for a green light. The rivalry continues in sales and, this year, the trophy goes to the Camaro, which has outsold the Mustang for the first time in 25 years.

So far this year, 68,264 units of the pony from Ford have been sold, compared with 75,685 Camaros, and Ford has acknowledged that it is already too late to reverse the situation, at least for this year. And to add insult to injury for the Mustang, the Camaro will be adding a new convertible variant for 2011.
