The Citroën DS3 Cabrio in detail

Today we take a close look at everything new about the just-arrived Citroën DS3 Cabrio, a different and exclusive city car.

Just this week we exclusively revealed the first images of the Citroën DS3 Cabrio thanks to some leaks. Now, after publishing all the information, images and official videos, it’s time to strip it down and get to know it inside out.

The first convertible model from the premium division of the French brand will be available in early 2013 at a price yet to be confirmed, though we can deduce it will cost between €1,500 and €2,000 more than the hardtop version.

The main novelty of this convertible variant is the ability to position the roof in three different positions. The first is stowed behind the front seats, the second right behind the rear seats, and the last one folds down into the boot, reducing its capacity by 40 litres to a total of 245 litres.

Compared with other convertibles in the segment, such as the MINI Cabrio, this DS3 does not allow you to get rid of elements that are fixed on this occasion, such as the rear window or the side bars, so it becomes a sliding fabric roof.

Even so, this possible disadvantage means that the fabric roof can be fully retracted in just over 16 seconds at speeds of up to 120 km/h. I can’t recall any other convertible that allows this operation at such a high speed.

One of the advantages of the range DS and more specifically of the DS3 is its capacity for personalisation, something the convertible variant continues to offer. Some of the novelties that cannot be fitted to the coupé include the option to choose between three different colours for the roof. These can be black, blue or a grey shade called Graphique DS.

Compared with the hardtop variant, the cabrio increases its weight by 25 kg, the rear lights have a different look, and LEDs illuminate the interior of the cabin.

Below you have a demonstration video of the aforementioned model. I hope you enjoy it.
