The classic Fiat Panda 4x4 has become electric, and this is how it turned out

The Fiat Panda is a true classic, and in Italy there are a great many of these cars. That is why it is easy for some customiser to decide to give the car a different twist. So let us see how a Fiat 500 has been transformed in the hands of Garage Italia Customs. This workshop has turned this classic into an electric model. To do so, it followed the instructions of Car & Vintage, which wanted to celebrate reaching 500,000 followers.

This model is called the Fiat 500 Pandina Jones Car & Vintage Edition and it is the second to receive this E-Icon package, after the Fiat 500 Jolly E-Con. What they have done with this model is make the most of its 4×4 characteristics, and in doing so they wanted to pay a heartfelt tribute to one of the great characters of adventure cinema. If you have read the name, you will already know we are talking about Indiana Jones, of course.

The car comes from the used market, so the first thing done was to begin the restoration. Work was also carried out on the exterior paint, for which the khaki colour typical of adventure vehicles was chosen, supplied by BASF R-M. The interior has been finished in orange Alcantara, to follow the decoration chosen.

The petrol engine has been removed and an electric motor together with a battery pack has been fitted, developed by Newton Group. It is not a high-performance pack, and in truth it is a battery pack that offers only a range of around 100 kilometres. The top speed, moreover, is limited to 115 km/h. Being realistic, for everyday urban mobility, it is more than enough.

As for charging time, it stands at between 3 and 8 hours, depending on the charger model. With a domestic connector it can stretch to 8 hours, but with a fast charger 3 hours is sufficient. This is one of the five models that will be built within this special series, alongside the Panderis with Vitale Barberis Canonico; the Pandoro, with fashion designer Marta Ferri; the Pand’Art with Arthur Kar of L’Art de L’Automobile; and the 00Panda, a tribute to James Bond.
