The DS 9 lands in Europe with a starting price of 47,700 euros
The DS 9 will reach the market during September 2021 with a starting price close to 47,700 euros.

Citroën, the brand of the chevrons, stopped building its famous Citroën C6 in 2012. Since then, Europe has been hungry for a large, premium saloon that could, at least in some respects, keep up with some of its German rivals such as the BMW Series 5 or the Audi A6. The new DS 9 is built on the PSA group’s modular platform called EMP2 V2.3. According to some reports, the DS 9 is the most elegant car France has produced in almost a decade.

This new premium saloon will have a starting price of around 47,700 euros. However, if you opt for the E-Tense model, the price can easily rise to 80,000 euros. For the time being, there are three power versions available. The range starts with a Puretech 225 petrol variant and continues with two plug-in hybrid options called E-Tense 225 and E-Tense 4 x 4 360. Very soon, an option with much greater range will also arrive, called E-Tense 250.

DS 9, this is the new premium saloon from the French brand
The flagship, the DS 9 E-Tense 4 x 4 360 uses electric motors of 110 and 113 CV, which work alongside a 200 CV Puretech petrol unit. This combination produces a combined output of 360 CV and maximum torque of 520 Nm. The specification also comes equipped with black brake calipers bearing the DS Performance logo and 20-inch Munich alloy wheels.

It is important to highlight that the new DS 9 will offer different driving modes that allow the plug-in hybrid powertrain to be run on petrol only, electricity only, or a combination of both. It also features an energy recovery system during deceleration and braking that allows the battery to be recharged. This is possible thanks to a 7.4 kW on-board charger; the battery can be recharged in an hour and a half at a home or public charging station using the cable supplied as standard.

Drivers will only have two trim options available, called Performance Line + and Rivoli +. The first offers a black Alcantara interior, chrome badges on the front doors, DS Performance Line logos, a glossy rear grille and a perforated leather steering wheel. The Rivoli+, on the other hand, is said to combine quality materials with premium diamond-shaped trim.

As for convenience and active safety technology, the DS 9 will arrive on the market with Level 2 autonomous driving features, DS Active Scan suspension, DS Active LED Vision headlights, Focal Electra sound system, keyless entry and start, DS Night Vision, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot assist, extended traffic sign recognition and active emergency braking. It is available in five exterior colours called Pearl White, Midnight Blue, Pearl Crystal, Artense Grey and Perla Nera Black. The first units are scheduled to start arriving in September 2021.
