The Ducati Monster 821 gets updated to welcome 2018
The brand is preparing its mid-displacement Monster to welcome the year 2018, offering a design that aims to celebrate 25 years of this range, which was born in 1992

25 years ago the first naked of the modern era was born. Before the 1970s, all road motorcycles were basically “naked“, until the way of seeing this type of vehicle changed. In 1992 Ducati wanted to reimagine the concept and launched the Ducati Monster 900, the first one built with the intention of creating a new style for that concept. That was in 1992, and from then on the Monsters have kept renewing the idea of basic motorcycles with more and more innovation.
We have reached the threshold of 2018, and the brand wanted its latest model in the range to be renewed to welcome the new year. This is the Ducati Monster 821, which was launched in 2014 and has received an update to face the new year with renewed strength. In terms of styling, we will find a redesigned fuel tank, as well as a tail section that pays tribute to that first Monster 900, which turns 25 years old. It will be available in three exterior colours: black, red and yellow, which is a first for a Monster and will provide a very strong personality.

The silencer keeps the double exit seen on the current 821, and at the front the light signature is marked by a halogen headlight with LED daytime running lights. In front of the rider we find a TFT display, which will show all the data provided by the Ducati Multimedia system and other elements that give it a very advanced technological look. The screen shows speed, fuel level and the gear currently engaged.
The engine keeps the 90º V-twin Testastretta block, which in its most powerful version reaches 109 CV at 9,250 rpm. There is also a lower-powered version, down to 95 CV, so that it can be used by riders with an A2 licence. The chassis and mechanical equipment remain the same as on the current model, so the performance is the same. What does change is the renewed look, which seeks to offer a retro appearance while also moving the design forward.
Although we can find some images of the model, it will not reach the public until the Milan EICMA show, which opens its doors on 9 November.
