The Estrema Fulminea is preparing to break the Nürburgring record

This electric hypercar with more than 2,000 CV of power aims to reach the Nürburgring next September and overcome this demanding test.

The Estrema Fulminea was unveiled in 2021 as an electric supercar prototype, and since then we have heard nothing more about it. Until now, as it has been announced that the production version of this model will arrive in June. Shortly afterwards, this prototype will dare to tackle one of the most demanding challenges in the world: a lap of the Green Hell, the Nürburgring.

To achieve this, Strema has chosen to launch a Kickstarter campaign, which aims to raise the funding needed to complete the definitive prototype and take it to the Nürburgring to put it to the test. With this campaign they hope to raise almost €98,000, of which they have already collected around €12,000 thanks to the generosity of 39 backers.

To generate more interest in the car and the campaign, the brand has announced the premiere of a documentary, which will be published online and which, across nine episodes, will show the development of this model from its origins through to the test on the track. The nine episodes of the documentary will be released between February and October of this year.

With all this, it is clear there is some difficulty in keeping the project moving forward, and that they need the help of sponsors to carry out this project. If they fail to achieve it, neither the test nor the prototype itself will become a reality. But hopes are pinned on this movement, which could be the definitive solution for the company.

A remarkable supercar

The Estrema Fulminea is a hypercar equipped with ultracapacitors and hybrid-type batteries. This means its batteries combine lithium-ion cells with solid-state cells produced by Avesta Battery Energy Engineering. These batteries offer a capacity of 100 kWh and an energy density of 500 Wh/kg. The batteries weigh 300 kg, while the vehicle’s total weight is 1,500 kg.

These batteries will provide a range of 520 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. The company announces that, thanks to an ultra-fast charger, maximum charge can be reached in around 15 minutes. The power of its electric motors reaches 1,500 kW, equivalent to 2,012 CV, an astonishing figure that will propel it from 0 to 320 km/h in under 10 seconds.

If all goes well, the Estrema Fulminea will be ready for production after September, once it passes the Nürburgring test. A production run of 61 units is expected, which will have a cost of €1,961,000. Will we see it become reality?
