The Ferrari 250 GTO sells for a record price: 48.4 million dollars

The Ferrari 250 GTO sets a new auction sales record with a total of 48.4 million dollars (41,035,200 €). A new prestigious achievement for Ferrari.

The Ferrari 250 GTO, whose auction we had already announced in this article, has become the most expensive car ever sold at auction, reaching the incredible sum of 48.4 million dollars (41 million €) at Monterey.

As expected, the auction opened at a very high price, specifically 33 million dollars. There was healthy competition among the deep pockets of the buyers until, finally, the gavel fell at the not inconsiderable figure of 44 million dollars. Fees and taxes bring the final price to 48.405 million $, which breaks every auction record for a car.

Hard as it may be to believe, this 250 GTO is not the most expensive car ever sold. Looking at private sales, earlier this year an American car collector paid 80 million dollars to David MacNeil.

Ferrari once again holds the auction record for cars, and it seems the Italian

marque and its dream sports cars have no expiry date, causing genuine fury among collectors.
