The Ferrari 458 could earn its Monte Carlo edition

In Maranello, work is reportedly underway on a special edition of the Ferrari 458 Italia, called Monte Carlo, with mechanical and aesthetic improvements. Power would rise to 620 hp.

Time in the spotlight for a Ferrari is not the same as for any other model that can stay on the market for years. A Ferrari has a commercial and novelty life that is shorter, three years at most, after which the Maranello house must think about a special edition or announce a new model on the way.

For this reason, the commercial life of the 458 Italia, presented in 2009, appears to be in decline, and it needs a bit of a boost through a special edition: the Monte Carlo edition with rumoured 620 hp, which will keep attention on the model for a few more months.

If Ferrari follows the same philosophy as before in equipping its special models, the 458 Monte Carlo will feature revised suspension, a lower final weight thanks to more spartan interiors geared towards an almost competition-oriented application, improved brakes and possibly a new body kit which, besides helping aesthetically, contributes aerodynamically to improve its qualities.

As I said, the Monte Carlo package is a rumour, something the brand is reportedly working on at the moment. But if we look at how the F430 Scuderia, 599 GTO and 360 Challenge Stradale were special editions, we don’t see why the 458 shouldn’t follow the same path.
