Who said the world stops in summer? Far from it, since events keep happening everywhere, and there are unmissable appointments that arrive year after year to show us new cars, models and concepts that brands want us to see as soon as possible.

That is the case of the Fiat 500L Vans, a concept car based on the popular Fiat model, which will be presented exclusively at the US Open of Surfing in August. It is a prototype that will not go into production, at least for now, but which has emerged from the collaboration between the Italian brand and the footwear manufacturer Vans.

Being a model specially designed for the event, and with Vans’ design collaboration, the differences have gone into creating a look that sets it apart from the basic model. A young, modern and carefree design that recalls surf culture and wants to stand out at the event where it will be one of the stars.

On the exterior, the new grille stands out, offering a more dynamic and attractive image. Alongside it are four LED daytime running lights with a circular shape. The black alloy wheels contrast with the three-tone body paint and the checkered painted roof. On this roof there is a bar that, as befits a car presented at a surf event, carries two boards to show off its versatility.

The interior has a very colourful design that echoes the style of Vans footwear. This gives it a very youthful and attractive look. Certainly, it is not a car aimed at people who are more “serious”.

The engine used in this concept is a variation of the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which in this version will deliver 160 CV. This powertrain is prepared for the American market and cannot be found in Europe in the basic 500L. At least, for now.
