The first images of the Opel Zafira 2017 leak

Opel is carrying out a renewal of much of its range of models. Just a few months ago we met the new Opel Astra and, as is tradition, the redesign of the Opel Zafira was due a few months later.

The brand’s MPV has been on the market for roughly four years and, therefore, it will not be long before it receives an update. As the Astra, the German brand’s main model, has undergone a complete redesign with a generational leap, it was to be expected that the Opel Zafira would take on part of the compact’s look and technologies, as has always happened with the seven-seater.

Now, through leaks that have come from the brand’s own configurator, we already know the exterior and interior look of the future Opel Zafira 2017 which, a priori, will be presented in this year, 2016.

As we can see in the images, the German MPV will get a thorough facelift. It adopts the look of the new Astra but keeps the base of the 2012 Zafira Tourer. The distinctive front of the current Zafira disappears, giving way to a look very similar to that of the compact, trying to imitate it as closely as possible in the headlights, grille and lower air intake of the bumper. On the other hand, the rear remains practically intact except for the light clusters, which, although they keep their shapes, change slightly in color.

Inside, the changes are very noticeable and attractive. The current Opel Zafira Tourer uses the instrument cluster, steering wheel and center console of the previous-generation Astra, which already looks somewhat outdated, especially visually. As we see in the images, the restyling features a more modern cabin borrowing the compact’s new interior, much cleaner and more attractive than the previous one, leaving behind so many buttons and gaining practicality.

As for safety and driver assistance , it will logically introduce all (or the great majority) of the features recently debuted by the C-segment model, such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control or automatic emergency braking.

Regarding the mechanical range we have no information, but it is to be expected that it will again include most of the engine options available on the Opel Astra.
