The first Renault with hydrogen will be ready for its presentation on May 19

The French brand is working on a car that will run on hydrogen and will be ready to be presented on May 19, with a conventional engine.

Renault Hidrogeno Teaser

The use of hydrogen as fuel is beginning to take centre stage in the automotive industry. With all the alternatives available to replace fossil fuels, it is somewhat harder to see it on the market. But even so, more and more brands are moving towards this type of mobility. And Renault does not want to be left behind.

It will be on May 19 that the French brand will present the hydrogen-powered model. And it will not be a vehicle that uses a fuel cell. Instead, Renault’s proposal will use a combustion engine that runs on hydrogen as its fuel. This is nothing new, as there are several models on the market that use this system. And although it is a conventional engine, it does not emit any type of emissions into the atmosphere.

A model previewed in February

The first news we had about this model came in February. At that time, the news was revealed that work was underway on a car of this type. We have had to wait a little to learn more details, but we already have a promotional image here of what will arrive on May 19.

The details we can see on this model are the illuminated badge on the front and also on one of the pillars. This solution has already been seen on the Renault Austral, so it is a continuation of this new design language. The solution is somewhat more practical than hydrogen fuel cell cars, as it does not require very complicated mechanics.

Currently, the conventional engine system adapted to hydrogen can be found in models such as the Toyota GR Yaris and the Toyota GR Corolla, which have already demonstrated that it is a reliable system very suitable for clean and sustainable mobility. On May 19 we will learn the details of Renault’s proposal and find out whether that concept has the characteristics to become a production model.
