The Ford Fiesta Active is ready to conquer any terrain, and we already know its price

Compacts are the kind of vehicle that lend themselves to a direct comparison with a Swiss Army knife, since their uses and the many different configurations they can take are virtually endless. Ford didn’t want to waste a single second, and so it has decided to get the most out of the Fiesta, one of the most charismatic and popular models from the American brand. Specifically, they have focused on developing, for the first time, the Fiesta Active, the version of the compact that seeks to become an SUV and offer unprecedented versatility.

The first thing that catches our attention about this variant of the Fiesta is its styling, which features a much more rustic structure that invites adventure. This marketing approach has allowed several brands to create different vehicles with a more personal look, but Ford has wanted to endow its compact with a high dose of personality. It’s true that this vehicle first saw the light of day at the end of 2016, but the American brand has now decided to begin its production.

As we mentioned, our interest focuses above all on the design adopted by the Fiesta Active, which incorporates the traits of its SUV siblings. On the one hand, we find raised wheel arches and a height 1.8 centimeters higher than that of a conventional Ford Fiesta, with the aim of tackling any terrain regardless of the circumstances. Another feature very characteristic of an SUV is the aluminum roof rails, which serve to accentuate the wilder spirit of the compact.

The interior does not differ in any respect from that of a standard Fiesta, as we find the same instrument cluster and central screen, two elements that aim to be innovative and give a fresh feel to the compact as well as to future generations of the other Ford. However, what we do find as a novelty in the Fiesta Active is its price, which the American company has already revealed.

Within the range of the more adventurous compact, we find two trim levels: the Active and the Active+. Both versions differ mainly in standard equipment, engine range and price. On the one hand, the Fiesta Active comes with three engines, starting with a 1.0 EcoBoost with 85 CV, followed by a 1.5 TDCI with the same power and culminating in the same 1.0 EcoBoost but this time producing 100 CV.

The prices announced by the brand, before discounts, for the most modest version of the adventurous Fiesta start at 17,895 euros for the 85 CV petrol variant, a figure that rises to 18,345 euros if we opt for the 100 CV one, and ends at 18,945 euros which the American brand asks for the diesel engine. If our situation—or tastes—demand more power, we can opt for the Active+ variant.

If this is our choice, we can select from the following engines: 1.5 TDCI with 120 CV, 1.0 EcoBoost with 100 CV—also available with an automatic gearbox—and finally the same engine but capable of delivering 125 CV of power. At the same time, the outlay for these versions increases, with prices of 21,395 euros, 19,745 euros and 20,495 euros respectively.
