The Ford Focus RS delays its launch

Focus-RS 2

It is making people wait. The most extreme and sporty version within the Focus range is being delayed, and its launch will no longer take place throughout 2015, as originally planned.

While the development of the model is not facing any major setbacks, it seems the brand with the blue oval wants to make sure it gets things right.

That is why Ford has decided to delay the launch of the Focus RS. This decision is mostly driven by strategic reasons, since, as we all know, the American brand will officially sell the Mustang in Europe for the first time early next year.

Another reason for the delay is the arrival of the new 2.3 EcoBoost engine. This all-new engine will mark the first time in history that a four-cylinder will be fitted to the Mustang.
This turbocharged engine will deliver around 300 CV in the muscle car, rising to approximately 330 CV in the Focus RS.

Focus-RS 3

Looking back, the Focus RS is now launching in its third generation, following a first generation powered by a 2.0 Turbo engine producing 220 CV and a second powered by an engine of Volvo origin with five cylinders, 2.5 litres of displacement and 305 CV.

This new RS will aim to rival models of the calibre of the VW Golf R, the Audi S3 or the BMW M135i, undoubtedly high-class rivals whose performance makes much more sporty models in their conception look pale.
