The Ford Focus ST is unveiled with a new diesel engine

Ford, continuing with the update of its compact Focus model, has revealed the refresh of its sportiest version -so far-.
We are talking about the Focus ST, which now comes with a more personal, more eye-catching look, adapting its design lines to the facelift of the American compact.
The exterior design has changed to the same extent as the standard Focus. This means the ST now gets a sharper front end, with a large one-piece air intake, plus a second supplementary intake at the bottom. Of course, the light clusters have changed too.

The side profile does not undergo major changes, limited to new alloy wheel designs, but at the rear we do see a tailgate with new shapes, slightly smaller tail lights and a more sporty bumper, with moldings that imitate a ventilation grille. It keeps the central exhaust outlet with angular shapes.
Inside, the redesign has basically focused on improving the ergonomics of the Focus. The dashboard now has fewer buttons, grouping more functions than before into a large central screen, of more than generous dimensions. The climate control now has easier-to-use controls, as does the steering wheel, which is also more accessible and less cluttered with buttons.

One of the most important points of this facelift is the engines, since Ford has decided to introduce a diesel variant within the ST trim. The petrol engine remains unchanged; it is still the same 2.0 EcoBoost with 250 CV and 360 Nm, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 247 km/h.
The news comes with the diesel ST, which will be visually indistinguishable from its petrol sibling. It will fit a 2.0 TDCi engine with 185 CV and 400 Nm, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Its average consumption will be around 4.5 litres per 100 kilometres.
The first units of the ST facelift will reach dealerships in early 2015, while orders will be accepted from autumn of this same year.
