The Ford Mustang Bullitt alongside its 1968 counterpart will attend the Goodwood Festival

Many vehicles enjoy a great reputation, which they have earned by marking a before and after in motoring history. This is the case of the Ford Mustang, a model that inspired admiration for muscle cars, a segment that has been gradually conquering Europe. However, the Mustang is special not only because of its status, but also because of its appearance on the big screen, such as in the film Bullitt. Now, both the original model and the special edition Mustang Bullitt are heading to the Goodwood Festival to win over those present even further.

The American brand decided to seize the occasion to revive one of the most iconic and acclaimed versions of the Mustang of all time, the Bullitt. A unit of the quintessential pony car, painted in green, filled the big screen when Steve McQueen drove at full speed through the streets of San Francisco. Fifty years after the film’s premiere, its star and its reincarnation will travel to England to be admired.

The latest generation of the Ford Mustang had the necessary requirements to serve as the basis for recreating the iconic Bullitt. To achieve the desired result, the oval brand modified some elements and various components that gave the muscle car the look needed to be a worthy heir to that glorious 1968 Mustang that caught everyone’s eye.

For the Festival of Speed, Ford will attend with both models, but the one chosen to run at Goodwood is another. To be more specific, the American brand has opted for the impressive Mustang GT Eagle Squadron, which hides 700 CV under its bonnet and the ability to drift constantly from side to side. However, to achieve this result, Ford has called upon driver Gittin Jr.

Gittin holds the world drift champion title, and will be in charge of showing the whole world what the Mustang GT Eagle Squadron is capable of. This exclusive version will be returned to the United States once the festival ends, where it will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to support the Association’s youth education programs. Despite this, the Mustang Bullitts will also play a leading role, since we must remember that the contemporary model hides a few surprises under its bonnet. In it, we find the same 5.0-litre V8 that powers the Mustang GT, but on this occasion its output rises to 475 CV and 569 Nm of torque. Alongside these improved figures, we find various elements that complement the Mustang Bullitt, such as the white gear knob or the identifying badge on the tailgate.

On 12 July, the Goodwood Festival of Speed will kick off, and both the original Mustang Bullitt and the new one will be present there until the 15th of the same month. In this way, attendees will have the opportunity to see first-hand one of the most exclusive Mustangs of all time, since there are barely any units of the original and the current version will be a limited run.
