It’s no news if we tell you that the Ford Mustang has been one of the best-selling sports cars in Europe since it began sales on our continent. Now its racing version arrives – the Mustang GT4 – with the same goal: to fly the American flag on European circuits.

Ford Performance aims to bring its American beast, taking advantage of the special exhibition debut in the FFSA French GT Championship, included in the race of the GT4 European Series South of Europe, events to be held at the Paul Ricard circuit on October 14 and 15. In this event, Ford seeks to demonstrate the speed and versatility offered by the most radical Mustang, and what better place to do it than on a circuit where it had never before run.

“The best way to show customers what a car is capable of is to take it to the racetrack,” said Dave Pericak, Global Director of Ford Performance.

It is worth noting that the Ford Mustang GT4 has a great track record on the American continent. It has earned a very good reputation in its debut in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar series. The competition Mustang has scored two poles in its first two races at Daytona and Sebring respectively.

But the great feats of the Mustang GT4 don’t end here, as it has been crowned winner at Sebring, Watkins Glen and Road America. Furthermore, this competition muscle car has also competed in the GTS class of the Pirelli World Challenge series. Yet, every car needs a driver (except the Nissan GT-R, which is driven with a controller), and Ford Performance has chosen the veteran Scott Maxwell.

Undoubtedly Maxwell is a great choice by Ford, since the American driver took part in the development of the Mustang GT4, which makes him the perfect ally, as he knows the car in detail. Ford aims with this exhibition to convince its potential customers that the Mustang is their perfect companion, and the best way to do so is by showing its capabilities on the track.

This is not the first time we see Ford doing something similar with the Mustang, as the GT4 inherits the legacy of the Boss 302R and the GT350R-C. They have proven to be two highly capable vehicles, and Ford asserts that the Mustang GT4 will be up to the challenge on the European continent.
