The Guardia Civil receives the Land Rover Discovery range

The Traffic Group of the Guardia Civil receives 85 units of the Land Rover Discovery. The DGT continues to back diesel fuel as the best option for its vehicle fleet

The DGT chooses the Land Rover Discovery range to command the vehicles of the Guardia Civil. The 85 units were delivered last week at an official event held in Alcalá de Henares.

We also highlight the growing trend of SUVs, including among police and security forces. A vehicle that adapts to a variety of conditions in which a conventional car would struggle.Land Rover Discovery Guardia Civil

Land Rover Discovery: at the service of the Guardia Civil

The vehicle chosen for the Guardia Civil is a Land Rover Discovery powered by an SD4 turbodiesel engine with variable geometry, an inline four-cylinder layout and a displacement of two litres.

It produces 240 CV and can reach a top speed of 207 km/h. It also features an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a permanent all-wheel-drive system with several driving modes.Land Rover Discovery Guardia Civil

The Land Rover Discovery will be used for patrol and surveillance duties on roads across the whole national territory. The SUV format also gives it the ability to adapt to any situation or terrain.

Likewise, like any emergency service vehicle, it has been adapted to the needs of the Traffic Group, both in its cosmetic finish and its markings.

Tradition and innovation in Guardia Civil patrols

This is not the first time the Guardia Civil has added an SUV model to its fleet. Just a few months ago, the Guardia Civil added 140 Jeep Compass to its vehicle pool: a petrol model with 170 CV.

Probably one of the reasons the DGT opted to switch from petrol to diesel is consumption: the Jeep Compass had a consumption of 9.4 litres, while the Land Rover Discovery drops to 7.4.Land Rover Discovery Guardia Civil

The current debate over diesel has been somewhat defused by the delegation, since both models comply with the current regulations and carry the C label under the DGT classification. Therefore, there are signs that diesel is still worth it.

Nevertheless, the only reproachable aspect could be the investment they have made in these vehicles, which have a base price of 63,800 euros. Don’t you think they could have found vehicles more affordable than the Land Rover Discovery with the same or better performance?
